The new generation of roof-mounted fans and ventilation hoods from Rittal is an efficient climate control solution specifically engineered for industrial and IT enclosures. When thermal loads are high but side panel space is restricted, or when you need to leverage the chimney effect (natural bottom-to-top convection), roof-mounted cooling is the ideal choice.This generation brings major upgrades in installation flexibility, airflow efficiency, and intelligent control.

Rittal SK 3138.000 is a new-generation, engineering-optimized roof vent cover designed for passive enclosure ventilation or localized multi-fan assembly. Serving as the direct, highly efficient replacement for the legacy SK 3148.007, this roof-mounted unit comes without a fan motor, facilitating natural convection air exit with minimal pressure loss. Featuring an innovative clamping attachment and a modular footprint, it supports a high protection category up to IP54/NEMA 12 when paired with its included pleated filter, safeguarding sensitive switchgear internal environments against dust and splashes
System-level Airflow Solution
In cabinet cooling design, to fully leverage the natural principle of hot air rising, a “bottom-to-top airflow” circulation is typically adopted.
Roof-mounted Fans / Roof Vents: Installed at the top of the enclosure to efficiently extract hot air generated by internal components like servos and inverters.
SK 3243.300 : Installed at the bottom of the side panel or door. Driven by the roof fan's negative pressure, it transforms into a perfect filtered air inlet, ensuring a continuous flow of cool ambient air while fully maintaining the enclosure's IP protection rating.
If a high volume roof mounted fan is chosen, like the SK 3140.100 or SK 3140.140, there needs to be a large enough air intake in the bottom to support the fan.To achieve the necessary air intake, the filters should be installed at the bottom of the enclosure in the range of 1-2 units of SK 3243.300,don't install too many filters as it may cause excessive negative pressure, which may affect extraction efficiency and fan noise.
