Rittal original authentic AE enclosures for electronics can be conveyed in three words: Structured, rigid, and absolutely reliable. AE enclosures set aside flashy designs and will be treated with three-layer surface anti-corrosion process to form the ideal corrosion barrier. They are combined with a permanent high protection category (IP55 – IP66) by the seamless foamed-in-place PU seal, creating a complete solution. This design prevents water, dust and oil stains from coming into contact with the internal PLCs, touchscreens, servo drives and inverters to provide a constant micro-operating environment in the noisy and dusty/harsh factory floor.

3 Q:Why are there no direct mounting holes on the back panel of the AE enclosure for wall screwing?
A: This is a deliberate design to ensure the enclosure's IP 66 / NEMA 4 protection rating remains completely uncompromised. Standard practice strictly prohibits drilling or screwing directly from the inside of the enclosure to the wall, as this would create leak paths for water and dust.
The Correct Method: Every AE enclosure comes pre-machined with four rear wall-mounting holes equipped with sealing plugs. To mount the enclosure, you should order the dedicated Wall Mounting Brackets (e.g., carbon steel version SZ 2503.010 or stainless steel version SZ 2433.000). These brackets are screwed into the pre-drilled holes from the outside of the enclosure, allowing for secure wall installation while keeping the interior perfectly sealed.
4 Q:How can I quickly migrate or convert an legacy AE model to the new AX series?
A: Most standard-sized AE enclosures have a direct, drop-in replacement in the new AX series with identical external dimensions
Conversion Example: For instance, the classic standard model AE 1060.500 (600 x600 x 210 mm) seamlessly converts to the new generation model AX 1060.000.
In most cases, you can simply change the prefix from "AE" to "AX" and update the suffix from ".500" to ".000" to find the upgraded equivalent with enhanced internal space and tool-free assembly features.
