The new generation of roof-mounted fans EC variant is one system for all sizes: only one mounting cut-out is needed for all output categories.

Air routing with minimal pressure losses ensures a high level of efficiency, while an innovative clamping attachment supports a high protection category of IP54. The roof-mounted fan may be activated via the control interface with a tacho signal output integrated as standard, and monitoring of the fan speed and function is supported. For even more efficient operation, the use of EC speed controls is recommended.

Choosing SK 3140500 or SK 3140510

Choose by supply voltage first: SK 3140500 is rated for 220–240 V, single-phase, 50/60 Hz; SK 3140510 is rated for 115 V, single-phase, 60 Hz. Their mounting dimensions are the same, but the electrical versions are not interchangeable without checking the installation supply.

Use these roof-mounted fans where ambient air can remove the enclosure heat within the permitted internal temperature. Check heat losses, maximum ambient temperature, dust or moisture exposure, filter maintenance and the complete airflow path. Ventilation cannot cool below ambient temperature.

SK roof-mounted fan TopTherm Accessories

SK 3110000 Internal enclosure thermostat : consider temperature-dependent switching where the wiring arrangement and electrical load are compatible. Confirm the connection against the fan and thermostat instructions.

SK 3118000 Enclosure hygrostat : a humidity-operated switch for a compatible control arrangement. It does not remove moisture by itself or guarantee prevention of condensation.

SK 3114200 Digital temperature display and thermostat : provides temperature indication and switching functions; verify the electrical ratings and wiring before use.

FAQ

Q1: Which voltage version should I choose?

A: Choose SK 3140500 for a 220–240 V, single-phase, 50/60 Hz supply, or SK 3140510 for a 115 V, single-phase, 60 Hz supply. Check the actual supply voltage and frequency at the cabinet. The two models share mounting dimensions, but this does not make their electrical versions interchangeable.

Q2: Why are different airflow values listed?

A: The values refer to different filter configurations. Unimpeded airflow without filter mats is 1,069 m³/h. With the supplied pleated filter, the published airflow is 976 m³/h for SK 3140500 and 975 m³/h for SK 3140510 at 60 Hz. The listed combinations with one or two SK 3243300 enclosure filters provide 690 or 830 m³/h respectively. Use the value for your intended configuration, then check the complete cabinet air path and cooling requirement. Filter contamination and additional airflow resistance can reduce airflow in service.

Q3: How can the roof-mounted fan achieve IP55?

A: The supplied pleated-filter configuration is rated IP54. Rittal specifies an optional chopped-fibre filter configuration for IP55. Confirm the applicable filter accessory and follow the manufacturer's installation instructions. The protection of the completed enclosure also depends on its other openings, seals and installed components; changing the roof-fan filter alone does not establish an IP55 rating for the entire cabinet.

Q4: Do I need an EC speed controller and temperature sensor?

A: Consider a compatible EC speed controller when you need temperature-dependent speed adjustment or fan monitoring. These fans include a control interface and tacho signal output. For a temperature-based control arrangement, check the controller's sensor requirements and wiring instructions. Confirm compatibility of SK 3235440 and SK 3235450 with your selected fan, and whether the sensor is included or must be ordered separately. For operation without an external controller, follow the fan manufacturer's specified connection arrangement.

Q5: What should I check before replacing an existing roof fan?

A: Check the existing fan's article number, supply voltage and frequency, mounting cut-out, roof thickness, clearances, electrical connections and control wiring. Both SK 3140500 and SK 3140510 use a 258 × 258 mm cut-out, with external dimensions of 400 × 133 × 400 mm (width × height × depth) and an installation depth of 34.6 mm. Also compare airflow under the intended filter configuration and the required protection category. A matching cut-out alone does not confirm a suitable replacement.
