Rittal AX 1006000 is a 380 × 380 × 210 mm stainless steel compact enclosure with a 330 × 355 mm mounting plate. The main reason to move from AX 1005000 to AX 1006000 is width, not height. Both configurations retain a 380 mm enclosure height and 210 mm depth, while AX 1006000 increases the width from 300 mm to 380 mm. Its mounting plate is correspondingly wider at 330 mm, providing more horizontal space for component arrangement and wiring. If the existing layout already fits within a 250 mm mounting-plate width, the narrower AX 1005000 may be sufficient.
Before Ordering AX 1006000
1. Check whether the extra width is actually required
AX 1006000 provides a 330 × 355 mm mounting plate within a 380 × 380 mm enclosure. Compare the planned component layout with the available mounting area before choosing the wider enclosure. If the layout already fits comfortably within a narrower mounting plate, increasing enclosure width may not be necessary.
2. Use the mounting plate, not the enclosure footprint, for component planning
The external 380 × 380 mm dimensions do not represent the usable plate-mounted area. Plan components against the 330 × 355 mm mounting plate, then reserve additional space for wiring ducts, terminals and required clearances.
3. Use the additional width for the right layout problem
The main dimensional advantage of AX 1006000 is horizontal space. It can accommodate layouts that require wider separation between components, additional terminal positions or side-by-side equipment. If the limitation is component height rather than width, compare the mounting dimensions rather than assuming the larger footprint is automatically preferable.
4. Check the 210 mm depth separately
The increased width does not provide additional enclosure depth. Components, connectors, cable ducts and door-mounted equipment must still fit within the 210 mm enclosure depth with the required installation and wiring clearances.
5. Recheck width-dependent accessories
Moving from a 300 mm-wide enclosure to AX 1006000 changes the compatibility requirement for width-dependent accessories. Rails, chassis, protective roofs and other dimension-specific components should be verified against the 380 mm enclosure width rather than carried over from a narrower AX model.
Accessories for AX 1006000
Accessory selection for AX 1006000 requires particular attention to its 380 mm enclosure width. Accessories selected for narrower 300 mm-wide AX models should not be carried over automatically where width determines compatibility. Check width-dependent rails, chassis, roof components and other installation accessories against the 380 × 380 × 210 mm enclosure dimensions, while depth-dependent components should be verified for the 210 mm configuration.
