AX 1016000 is particularly relevant when mounting height, rather than depth or a major increase in width, has become the main layout constraint. Compared with AX 1014000, enclosure depth remains 300 mm, while mounting width increases only from 705 to 745 mm. The significant change is mounting height, which increases from 735 to 975 mm.
This additional vertical area can be useful when terminal rows, control devices, power equipment and wiring ducts can no longer be arranged with practical separation within 735 mm of mounting height. The decision should therefore be based on whether the extra 240 mm allows clearer component zoning, continuous wiring routes and sufficient service access—not simply whether more components can be fitted onto the plate.
If the planned layout already works within the 705 × 735 mm mounting plate of AX 1014000, moving to a 1000 mm-high enclosure may provide little practical benefit. If 975 mm of mounting height is appropriate but 745 mm of mounting width becomes the next constraint, AX 1018000 provides a 945 × 975 mm mounting plate and moves the enclosure into a wider two-door configuration.
Before Ordering AX 1016000
1. Build the layout around functional sections, not individual components
With a 745 × 975 mm mounting plate, placing components individually from top to bottom can result in long, inefficient wiring routes. Define the power, control, communication and terminal sections first, then position individual devices within those zones.
2. Decide where field wiring will enter before filling the lower mounting area
On a 1000 mm-high enclosure, the position of incoming and outgoing cables can significantly affect internal routing. Reserve the required cable-entry and termination area before using the lower section of the mounting plate for equipment.
3. Keep frequently serviced equipment within a practical working zone
The 975 mm mounting-plate height allows equipment to be installed over a large vertical range. Devices requiring adjustment, testing, fuse replacement or regular terminal access should not be positioned solely according to available space; consider their accessibility after the enclosure is mounted.
4. Check whether one large enclosure is preferable to separated assemblies
A single large mounting plate can simplify system consolidation, but it can also increase wiring concentration and make future modifications more involved. Consider whether the project benefits from keeping the functions together or whether separate enclosure sections would provide easier installation and servicing.
5. Calculate the completed assembly weight before selecting wall fixings
This is particularly important for1016000.
