Rittal SK 3173100 is a chopped-fibre replacement filter mat for compatible 3243, 3244 and 3245 fan-and-filter units. Each pack contains five mats. The progressive fibre structure provides coarse dust filtration; the supply consists of filter mats rather than a complete fan or grille assembly.

Confirm the Fan Version Before Ordering

Check the full fan article number, not only the filter dimensions. Rittal lists SK 3173100 for the 3243, 3244 and 3245 families and excludes EMC filter fans. Confirm the specified replacement for the installed version before substituting a mat.

Install the Progressive Filter in the Correct Direction

Place the open-structure side towards the dust-laden incoming air and the closed-structure side towards the clean-air side. Follow the installed unit’s instructions, seat the mat fully in its holder and close the grille correctly. Gaps around the mat allow air to bypass the filter.

Filter Replacement: Problems and Checks

Cabinet temperature rises while the fan still runs+

Inspect the mat for dust loading and check the inlet and outlet paths. A restricted filter can reduce airflow. Replace a loaded mat and reassess cabinet temperature; if the problem remains, check fan operation, heat load and ambient temperature.

Dust appears inside after a filter change+

Check filter orientation, edge seating and damage. Also inspect door seals and cable entries. A coarse filter is not a guarantee that all fine particles will be removed.

The replacement mat does not fit properly+

Verify the fan model and filter holder. Do not select by width and height alone or force a different thickness into the grille. Confirm the specified replacement instead of trimming an unidentified mat.

The mat becomes dirty again very quickly+

Review the contamination level and shorten inspection intervals accordingly. Record filter condition and cabinet temperature to establish a site-specific replacement schedule. Ask for a filtration review if the operating environment has changed.

Understand the Filtration and Temperature Limits

Rittal describes dust filtration from a particle size of 10 µm. This is not a stated absolute particle cut-off or a guarantee of 100% removal. Use the published coarse-filter classification when assessing suitability for fine dust.

The 100 °C value describes filter material temperature resistance. It does not extend the allowable operating temperature of the fan or the equipment inside the cabinet. Check those limits separately.

Fan, outlet filter and grille+

Inspect the corresponding outlet filter, where fitted, and the grille or holder during maintenance. Confirm their own replacement references; this five-piece pack does not include those components.

Request an SK 3173100 quotation. State the number of packs and delivery destination. One pack contains five mats, so ten packs provide fifty mats. Include the full fan model and EMC status when compatibility needs confirmation.
